Jesus on Broadway

There is a Superstar on Broadway! Last Wednesday, I ventured to the Neil Simon Theatre on West 52nd Street to see the Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice musical. I have been apart of the play in high school and saw the movie as well. However, I have never seen the production on the Broadway stage. I am so thankful I did, the play was magical!

Jesus  (Paul Nolan)

The performances by all three lead characters, Jesus Christ (Paul Nolan), Judas Iscariot (Josh Young), and Mary Magdalene (Chilina Kennedy) I enjoyed immensely. The set (Robert Brill) and costumes (Paul Tazewell) evoked a futuristic feeling while staying in the past. The music and lyrics by Webber and Rice were on point, both dramatic and uplifting, capturing the soul of the show through the rock opera lens. The singing and stage presence of the ensemble and leads were terrific.

The most disappointing part of JCS is that it was not nominated for more Tony Awards. JCS is up for two, best revival of a musical and best performance by a featured actor in a musical in Josh Young (Judas). After reading the Tony Nominations listing I was shocked that Des McAnuff, the director, did not receive any recognition. His staging in this production was punctual, powerful, and emotionally driven. Robert Brill the Set Designer was another shocker as well. Most of all, Paul Nolan. If anyone was born to play the role of Jesus in this show it is most definitely him. He captured the emotions, body language, movement so well, you would think he is Jesus himself!!

The Avengers

Last night I saw the Avengers in Imax  3D. Unbelievable! It was extremely entertaining. Lots and lots and lots of action sequences and it was very funny as well. I definetly recommend to see it. also, seeing the movie in Imax 3D is a must. This was my first Imax experience and it was phenomenal!

Also, Don't Forget to stay after the initial credits for some extra footage and after the rolling credits for some extra goodies as well.

Ohhh To Live In Japan

So if you happen to be visiting Japan and find yourself in a restroom, you might be in for a sweet old time. The video company Sega has created a urinal that doubles as a video game. The company charges about $1,800 per toylet and $125 per game. There will also be space for advertisers to buy as well.

Season 2 Game of Thrones

IT IS HERE!!!

Game of Thrones season 2 is finally here. I have waited so long for this to finally to come, especially after reading many of the books. To finally see book two, A Clash Of Kings (season 2) come to life makes my inner nerd ecstatic.

I enjoyed the episode. However, it is frustrating to wait a week at a time for each episode. So far they have kept up with the book exceptionally well. Can not wait to see what is next to come.

Jesus Christ Superstar

Yesterday the broadway revival of Jesus Christ Superstar, had its opening night. The New York Times Theatre critic Paul Isherwood gave the show mixed reviews. Saying, "the effect is of a mildly naughty floor show at Caesars Palace". He applauded some of the actors from Josh Young (Judas) and Paul Nolan (Jesus). The overall singing as a whole, he explains as very impressive. The scenery he depicts as very lavish and glitzy as well.

Here is a quick video of the opening night crowd and what they felt about the show. I have also posted one of the more popular songs from the play. However, since you can not find the actual song used in the new revival, instead is a excerpt from the 1973 film.

A Feast For Crows

I have Finally finished the third segment of George R.R. Martins's series A Storm of Swords, the almost thousand page novel took awhile to read, but was by far my favorite and the most exciting. Once I finished the third installment I immediatley made my way to the local Barnes and Nobles to buy the fourth.

So far I am 200 pages in. Though the book is very well written it is a lot slower then the third and second books of the series. However, I am giving this book time. Martin is by far my new favorite author and I know he will finish strong with this book. I'll keep ya posted on how the rest of the series goes.

Over the Weekend Game

To change it up a bit from the usual postings. I am going to do the whole sports talk thing!

However, I think it would be more interesting to discuss how my Purchase College Baseball team is doing. Two of my teammates Michael Moore and Isaac Feldman posted a video of our recent double header against John Jay College on Youtube and Facebook.

Upcoming Movies

There is a few things I like besides reading the Game of Thrones Series and eating new exciting food. I'm a big fan of looking for new movie trailers for the upcoming year.

The first is a 6 minute clip of The Dark Knight Rises with Tom Hardy (The Warrior & Inception) and Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. Dark Knight Rises.

On the more comedic side here is an upcoming movie with Will Ferrell, Casa Di Mi Padre.

Alright, this is not just a blog all about food. I just happen to really, really like a nice place to sit down, have a drink and eat some deliciousness. So, to mix things up a bit, I have to talk about the books I have been reading.

Over the Summer I really enjoyed the HBO series Game Of Thrones. I love anything medieval and even more so fantasy stories. After watching and re watching the series I decided to dive into the books, not knowing that there are 5 total. After reading the first, and having seen the faces of all the characters on HBO, the book was absolutely incredible. There is everything from romance, betrayal, sex, battles, scheming the list go's on and on.
I recently just finished reading the second book of the series, A Clash Of Kings. Now I am a George R.R. Martin nerd, I'm hooked!!! Ten times better then the first book. I've already ordered the third installment, A Storm Of Swords. The only thing that really upsets me, or mainly just drives me crazy, so many of the main characters die. It's actually very upsetting but in the end it only sucks you into this universe that much more!

Well, Valentines Day isn't really my favorite holiday. I think of it as more of a ploy for Hallmark and Russell Stovers to make some extra money. So, in resentment of Valentines Day I like to do things a little differently. Example: Going out to a Valentines Day lunch instead of dinner. I know thats not very different but everyone does something different to say no to the status quo.

China White Noodle Bar in Purchase, New York, delicious, nice ambiance, and even better cocktails. Finding an upscale, Chinese restaurtaunt is not the easiest thing in the world. However, China White is one of those diamonds in the ruff.  I ordered the General Tso's Fish dish and shared Sesame Chicken as well. The portions were great, somewhat pricy but still very good.

For Drinks I ordered a lava flow and the girlfriend ordered a zombie cocktail. Both drinks were delicious, somewhat fruity but really good. Almost like a liquid dessert. Speaking of dessert we ordered the chocolate wontons and ice cream, Once again, simply delicious.

I'm Thirsty/Hungry and I'm in Westchester
Three words. Westchester. Burger. Company. I went there for dinner and an early celebration for this past Super Bowl. Giants Baby!!!!!!! Well, anyways besides the Giants beating the Patriots, again. This is probably one of the best places to eat and drink in the area.
I had the southwest turkey burger with about 7 different toppings on it and a s'mores milkshake. It was incredible! Then for Dessert, a cinnabon sundae, which I was forced to share (unwillingly). WBC is a fun place with the occasional special too. Last Sunday they had a $10 pitcher of beer with a free order of wings or sliders, splendid. If you can, make the trip out!!!
